The zerogerman Turtle Box: What's New???

Jul. 17 - 2006 - One Year Later

We bought a house in January 2005. It was still winter when we moved in. The turtles hibernated in the turtle box. I shut the misting unit off and all the lamps were moved away. During spring of 2005, I decided to build a OUTDOOR HABITAT for my babies. The project became so complex, that I now have a pond as well. My turtles are as healthy as ever. No one died and infact, I adopted a few more from the Colorado Reptile Humane Society.

Here are a few pictures of their new home: MY OUTDOOR HABITATS

Feb. 03 - 2005 - Paint Job & Video:

I woke up this morning, my babies were up roaming around. I spent a bit of time feeding them some meal worms and applying some Vitashell. It was nice...they look so healthy!!! So after they went back to sleep, I decided to take my camera out and film a bit of the enclosure, wich I painted blue the day before. At the time of the shooting, Harold was burried and Maude was inside the cave... Just go to the PICS page.

Jan. 19 - 2005 - Cleaning Day:

Since Harold had an eye infection (he's doing great, by the way), I had to bring up the humidity levels, things got pretty wet in their house. I bought some more bark to soak up the water and I also covered the bottom with an extra layer of heavy duty plastic. New heat lamp, and the wheat grass is gone.

Jan. 03 - 2005 - Santa came for the turtles:

New addition to the Zerogerman Turtle Box this Christmas, was a piece of cuttlebone. Maude (the oldest), just went nuts. I also planted some more dandelions around the food dish...to see if they get to eat a little more greens.

Dec. 19 - 2004 - More woodchips:

Harold really likes to burrow himself. He actually prefers woodchips instead of the moss or the compost soil. Of course: I got him more.

Dec. 14 - 2004 - It works like a charm:

The misting system worked as planned. I can even adjust the level of humidity using the controls in the humidifier. Sometimes it looks like a foggy morning in the woodlands.
