» Turtle Problems at the Ranch

A common condition, that captive turtle keepers like me face, is ear abscesses. It is an ear infection that is easily noticeable in the form of a lump on either one or both sides of the head. It may appear to be swelling or inflamed due to bacteria developing mostly from previous respiratory infection (cold). My Western Painted Turtle (Danny) had one this month. So I took him to my veterinarian today. The little guy is doing ok now.

Danny after the surgery. So good looking...!

This nasty little thing came out of his ear....Urgh! Blah! Nasty!
