» Italian Sausage Pies

Ah...my first day off in a while. I had to stop at the hardware store to get some screws for my bass guitar, so on my way back, I ended up at the grocery store thinking about dinner. Hummmm! I saw some nice italian sausages at the meat department...and tara ta ta! I had a great idea:

RECIPE (well, sort of)

4 italian sausages (without the skin), \1/2 onion, 1 celery stock, garlic (as much as you want), 1 potato, 2 carrots, 3 broccoli florettes, 7 raw mushrooms, 1/2 yellow bell pepper, 1/2 pound of mozzarella cheese (sliced), parmesan cheese, salt and pepper, 2 pie crusts (deep dish pie shells), fresh oregano and a six pack of beer of your choice. I think that's it.

Make pork gravy with 1 sausage: a little butter and flour, milk and spices (if you're confused follow this link). Pre-cook the other 3 sausages with the onion, celery and the bell pepper on a frying pan. Also, don't forget to pre-cook the carrots and the potatoes, which you should cut in cubes. Slice the mushrooms and the brocolli. When everything is ready. Just put all in the pie shells, including the gravy:

Cover the whole pie with the mozzarella cheese and the parmesan cheese. Put some oregano leaves on top, cause it looks cute...:

AH! DON"T FORGET THE BEER:

Pre-heat the oven at 400o degrees and cook for 20 minutes. And you're done...And all it took me, was 15 minutes to get it prepared. Not to mention I made 2 pies for under U$15.00 dollars.

The two pies should feed 4 people. If you would like to pig out, one pie is definitely enough. Bon Appetite!!! I am tonight, a happy man...

» First time home owners...

The new to be house

We have been looking for a while now. A house to buy. A few weeks back we found this cute little VILLA on 35th and Lipan. It's a 6250 sq. feet lot, with three little buildings in it (ranging between 750 sq. feet each). We put our offer last week, and the owners (jesuits) accepted it. Yesterday we had the house inspected. Unless the jesuits decide to change their minds, the house is ours. I'm overwelmed by joy, at the same time a bit nervous, since it would be my first house and not to mention a huge step in my relationship with Jena. All for the better! I hope. There's a lot of work to be done there too. Mostly aesthetically. The outside needs only gardening changes, but on the inside...a lot of paint, new floors, perhaps even some wall breaking. More pictures here and at Jena's blog

» Tuesday yestersay. Wednesday today. (Thursday tomorrow?)

Finally a post where I don't talk about turtles. Snowboarding date yesterday, where I cursed Jena and the mountain for the first 10 minutes down the slope. Man sometimes it's hard. But everything went well, a lot less tumbles, I should say. Beautiful day too! We even spotted a few mountain sheep on the way back:

Christmas is getting close and I'm getting ready for tons of work at St. Mark's. But there's also New Year's to relax. We are planning a little trip outside of Denver. Last year we went to Idaho Springs. Not sure yet about this one.

» Zerogerman Turtle Pen - Fase # 4 and final

So it was with great pleasure that, today, I inaugurated the new Zerogerman Turtle Pen! Way before the scheduled time. It is a monster...well, compared to the old tank. We are talking about three to four times larger. My little turtles have been walking around for almost two hours now...they're going to be tired tonight.

» Zerogerman Turtle Pen - Fase # 3

Oh lord! I woke up at 5:30Am. With plenty of time in my hands before I had to go to work, I decided to take on fase # 3 of my little project: the top cover. And it's done. Even with hinges and two side locks. Tomorrow, I'll build clamps for the light fixtures and I'll be ready to put the soil and moss in. Jena and I went to Petsmart last night, and I ended up buying some new lamps, a couple of thermometers and some other stuff. Aaaah! I'm excited. And I think my babies will be too.

» Zerogerman Turtle Pen - fase # 1

Carpenter Gio

So fase #1 is done. I spent the entire afternoon covered in saw dust, taking measurements, cutting wood. I also found out, that plaxiglass is a pain in the butt to cut. And because of that, I had to improvise in my overly thought design. But things are good, too bad I don't have a lot of free time.

what a mess

Got into a little accident when a tube of silicone exploded in my hands...yeah, I tried not to hold anything... Next Saturday I'll finish the front of the tank (pen), and I need to think a bit more about the cave.

» Lost Souls - Earth 2150

The third instalment of this cool RTS game is the shit!!! Last Monday I played for 8 hours straight, with a couple of bathroom breaks. Lost Souls is basically a rehash of the rest of the series, but it still offers a few neat features. One I haven't seen in many titles, is the ability to construct your own custom units. You can choose from several chassis of each unit type and choose which weapons they will carry as well as give them stock scripts that determine how they will behave on the battlefield. Although it was released in 2002, it's a very well designed game and for $3.99 at the discount booth at Biglots, how could I go wrong?
